I think in one of Motorola's firmware's, they wanted to add support for both record lights. Their firmware must of been strict change to look for a register on a variable named RecLED1 and RecLED2. Well I-Guide isn't programmed that way.

It simply flips a status register to RecLED (no 1 or 2 appended to it). After complaints Motorola likely changed what it's firmware was looking for to RecLED and RecLED2. Now the first register matches what I-Guide is pushing to the hardware abstraction layer. I-Guide needs an update to take advantage of passing a record light 1 and 2 status. I would like to see this as well. On older DCT boxes, they would most likely ignore the status of RecLED2, but you would have to make sure that the provision programmed into I-Guide wouldn't break something in those boxes or the Pace boxes that also run I-Guide. USB ports do not work for hard drives. Eventually the eSATA port might work, but Motorola and Gemstar had made no effort to get this working. If you want to expand the hard drive space on a Motorola based conditional access cable plant, you need to get a PACE box. Pace actually has eSATA working.
