I have a Ford Mondeo that has a Blaupunkt Travelpilot NX system that is used across the Ford range. I have recently had the operating software updated and due to this the 2007 navigation data and software disc was not compatible. In accordance with a Ford Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) the latest TomTom 2014 navigation disc was ordered. However when the disc is inserted the software appears to download and then it causes the system to constantly keep restarting every 5-10 seconds making the whole entertainment, navigation, voice control and heating/fan controls unusable. If the 2014 TomTom disc is removed the system works apart from the navigation and voice control system as they require data from the navigation disc.

Having spoken to a number of people within the Ford community it appears a large number of people are experiencing the same problem. When the disc is inserted it sounds like the drive is trying to read the disc but cannot, then the drive runs down and spins up again and then the system goes into the restart cycle as if it can't read the disc properly so reboots.

Question 1 - Is there a known quality control issue with the 2014 TomTom navigation disc for the Ford NX system? As the disc appears to keep trying to read is there a bad/unreadable sector on the disc?

Question 2 - Is there a known issue of upgrading from the 2007 navigation disc directly to the 2014 TomTom navigation disc? Some people are suggestion that if you first install the 2009/2010 navigation disc as in interim measure it will upgrade to the 2014 TomTom disc. I believe this is a software fault from the navigation disc and not a hardware fault. I look forward to some answers. Having listed this fault on the TalkFord Forum it seems to be a regular problem. Some hav found replacement 2014 discs worked and some say it eventually started working on irs own, others have managed to upgrade using te 2009/2010 disc. Mine does not seem to be abke to install th navigation software from the 2014 disc which suggests that it is a problem with the disc.

I had hoped someone rom TomTom would have responded to this as it seems to be a product fault. What year disc did you upgrade from? Has anyone got anywhere with this yet? I upgraded my unit to 5.3 firmware then tried to load the 2014 disc with the exact same problem. I am a ford technician so contacted ford technical about the problem, apparently they hadnt heard of any issues at that time ( 3 days ago), but after a few minutes on google could see what I meant about it being a common problem. Would of expected someone from tom tom to have come forward with a response by now as ford didn't have any ideas apart from to try a disc from 2008 onwards so it was compatible with the 5.3 firmware update. I hope nobody minds me adding to this thread. I've just updated my Ford NX touchscreen DVD sat nav maps from 2011 to 2014 and it is beginning to look as though traffic information is not working. If I go into the service menu and choose Radio Test and then RDS Parameters then both the line for Traffic Announcement and for TMC show 0 against them. Does anyone know if this means definitely that the traffic data is not being found? Has anyone else done this upgrade and either had this problem or not? Either way if you've done the upgrade can you tell me what version of the sat nav software you are on.

I think mine is version 5.1 so it would be useful to know if it would cure the problem to upgrade to version 5.3 which I believe is the most recent. Hi everyone This sounds familiar!

I have the exact same issue. I had the 2007 (came with car) and decided to upgrade to the 2014 disc. Disc arrived and said it was incompatible. So I downloaded SP5.3 and installed all is fine until I try to use the 2014 disc. It tries to read the disc and then bang, it resets and the radio and all the other functions disappear!
